Thank you so much for the tag! I loved hearing how the Seuss book impacted you! Please tag me again if you write more on it!
Unfortunately, my husband forever ruined the Wizard of Oz for me by telling me the specific treatment of Judy Garland in the 1930βs movie. It does, however, increase my passion for womenβs rights!
As far as I understand from various interviews over the years, all of child actors and actresses were exceedingly mistreated. The price for fame has always been a steep one. As far as I understand, worse things have happened since. Women are not the only ones abused, though. Psychopaths seem to be running much of the world at large and the film industry is not immune. Did he also tell you how they had to change the actors for the Tinman...and why? Awful treatment happens when the curtain is down...makes one appreciate those who do not behave this way!
Yes, I hope to come back to the book. I had actually not read Mcelligot's Pool and it's been years since I read the others. To be sure, a couple of them I read so many times I still have them somewhat memorized! They will always have a special place in my heart for all of the memories I have of reading them to my children.
